So incredibly thankful to all my family, friends, mentors, and climbing partners who made this year possible. I know that 2019 will just bring more adventures to come.
Luckily I have been able to secure employment starting September 2019. Until then, the plan is to follow the climbing and surf. I'll be starting off the new year taking a Wilderness First Responder Course with NOLS in SF - where I will hopefully gain some useful skills for my travels. Immediately after the course finishes, I'm heading down to Patagonia (El Chalten) for a month of climbing and hiking. I have big dreams of getting on the Fitz, but who knows if I'll find good partners and weather. I have 2 free weeks down in South America which is up in the air; thinking I may go down to the Torres or up to Bariloche/Santiago.
The rough plan for 2019 -
Jan - WFR, Patagonia
Feb - Patagonia/S.America
Mar - Ice climbing CA/MT, Rock climb in Spain, Morocco, Greece, Eastern Europe
Apr - Mountaineering in Nepal/Surfing in Sri Lanka/SE Asia
May - Graduation from Georgetown, USA for a bit
Jun - Bolivia
Jul - Canada (Bugaboos/Cirque of the Unclimbables)
Aug - TBD
Sep - Start work!
I'll be updating this blog a bit more often this coming year and posting some trip reports on my climbs/expeditions. In the meantime, cheers to another spectacular New Year 🥂
A life well lived! Adventure awaits you on the other side. RIP MX
